Olive green dryfit Tzitzit for combat soldiers: 60,000 X $7.50 per unit. (the number of Tzitzit needed for distribution this year, the third year of the war, while relatively less than the first and second year, still stands at approximately 140,000. The MOD, has substantially increased its annual purchase of Tzitzit from 20,000 prior to the war to 80,000. While a significant increase, those 80,000 Tzitzit are still insufficient to supply all the combat soldiers – especially the reserve combat soldiers in the field. Since Purim and the beginning of the Roaring Lion Operation against Iran and her proxies are needed for the combat reserve units called up for the ground offensive in Lebanon and elsewhere and replacement Tzitzit for regular unit combat soldiers in the field of battle for months at a time.
Torah Libraries for Base Synagogues: 100 X $5,000. per library. (since the number of religious combat soldiers – both in the regular forces units and in combat reserve units is more than 50% on average, the number of soldiers who want to learn Torah whenever time allows has greatly increased. Literally many thousands of soldiers study Daf Yomi and many, many more study Torah whenever they can even under difficult combat conditions. The Sifrei Kodesh provided by the IDF Rabbinate in various forms has allowed many tens of thousands of combat soldiers access to Torah study on a daily basis.)
4 piece modular Synagogue wall unit (Aron Kodesh & 2 attached bookcases) + Bima Table for IDF outposts on both sides of the Gaza and Lebanon borders – including Torah library = $7,500. (Beginning with 9 such Batei Knesset kits with full Torah library in the IDF outposts established in the security zone inside Syria, 8 in Gaza, and 3 in Lebanon, which were sponsored by donors, this easy, practical solution for combat soldiers in similar outposts in the security zones established inside Gaza and Lebanon needs further sponsors. At present, especially in the expanded Security Zones in both Lebanon and Gaza, the total needed are 42 more.)
Mezuzot: 5,000 – $65. per unit. (The shortage of Mezuzot in the IDF stands close to 30,000. While it is expected that the MOD will ultimately cover half of that number in the next two years, the immediate need for combat bases and outposts is an emotionally pressing need for these soldiers.)
Tefillin: 1,000 – $850. per unit. (In the first year of the war, the IDF Rabbinate placed hundreds of pairs of Tefillin in IDF synagogues both on bases and outposts in the field to provide the capability of any soldier who does not have Tefillin and wishes to put them on and pray. In addition, both the IDF Rabbinate and a number of volunteer charitable organizations distributed many more hundreds of pairs of Tefillin to individual soldiers who either lost their Tefillin during combat or decided to begin to put on Tefillin every day. Every pair of Tefillin given out by the IDF Rabbinate whether to an IDF Beit Knesset or to an individual soldier, was first checked by the Machon STAM of the IDF Rabbinate to confirm its Kashrut level. The need for more Tefillin continues to grow as unit rabbis turn to the IDF Rabbinate with regular requests on behalf of combat soldiers in their units.)
Siddurim (pocket size in all 3 nuscha’ot) for combat soldiers in the field: 7,000 X $3.75. per unit. (The estimated shortage two months ago was double that. However thanks to two donors, we were able cover 5,000 such pocket siddurim being delivered this month.)
Chumashim (pocket size w/ Tefilot Shabbat in all 3 nuscha’ot) for combat soldiers in the field: 8,000 X $4.50 per unit. (Here too, the estimated shortage was at 12,000, but again, thanks to two other donors, we were able to cover 4,000 such pocket chumashim which were already supplied and distributed to units in the field.)
Magen Yisrael Tehillim-Siddur for Combat Soldiers (pocket size – S’fard & Eidot Mizrach): 30,000 X $2.60 per unit. (Minimum printing is 10,000 copies).
Sifrei Torah – 250 new smaller Sifrei Torah (in addition to the more than 1,300 Sifrei Torah now in regular use in the IDF, including almost 100 previously pasul IDF Sifrei Torah which were fixed by Sofrim serving in the IDF Machon STAM, the need for approximately 300 new smaller Sifrei Torah are needed to both replace old, marginally kosher Sifrei Torah now in use, as well as providing more portable Sifrei Torah for combat units to take with them into battle zones.)
Sukkot: 350 X 3*6 meters = $850. per unit / 200 X 2*3 meters = $360. per unit.
